LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is one of the largest community blood banks in the Southeast and supplies more than 125 hospitals in Alabama, Florida and Georgia. We always need talented and dedicated workers to fill our phlebotomy, facilities, courier and management positions throughout our eight districts in the states we serve.

Competitive Benefits Package

Paid Time Off (PTO)

LifeSouth offers a paid time off (PTO) system to all full-time employees. PTO hours accrue every pay period and can be used for vacation, personal time, illness, bereavement or time off to care for dependents. Employees can accrue a maximum of 200 PTO hours.

LifeSouth offers health, dental, vision, supplemental life, cancer, accident and disability insurance for full time employees.

Health Savings Account (HSA)

If you participate in LifeSouth’s health insurance program, you may be eligible to enroll in a Health Savings Account (HSA). Contributions can be made into your HSA through payroll deductions to help with qualifying, out-of-pocket health costs:

  • LifeSouth will match employee contributions dollar-for-dollar, up to $35 per pay period ($910 per plan year).
  • Earn up to $250 per year in additional contributions through participation in wellness activities.

Retirement Plan 

LifeSouth offers a retirement account through VOYA. LifeSouth contributes a percentage of your annual earnings based on your years of service. Funds are subject to a vesting schedule.

Employees are enrolled automatically once they meet eligibility requirements.

LifeSouth offers a 403(b) through Fidelity Investments. This voluntary savings program allows for pre-tax and after-tax (Roth) payroll deductions. There are no employee eligibility requirements to open an account, so employees can open an account at any time. Employees make payroll contributions to the account. No minimum contribution is required to set up the account.

LifeWise Wellness Program

Employees have access to LifeSouth’s interactive wellness program. By participating, employees with medical benefits have the opportunity to earn Health Savings Account (HSA) dollars and employees without medical benefits can earn reward points.

Are you interested in volunteering or interning with LifeSouth?

LifeSouth welcomes volunteers and interns to help us achieve our mission of providing a safe blood supply that meets or exceeds the needs in each community we serve, and providing a variety of services in support of ongoing and emerging blood and transfusion-related activities.

Volunteers and interns work alongside LifeSouth’s local team to provide critical support in areas such as blood drive management and administrative support. Students may also earn volunteer hours by donating blood or organizing a blood drive at their school.
