Creating the Donation Generation

LifeSouth Community Foundation develops and delivers curriculum for students in grades K-12.

All lessons are correlated to state standards in our footprint (Florida, Georgia, Alabama)

LifeSouth staff bring excitement, knowledge, and hands-on activities into the classroom

We have educated more than 25,000 students to help create the next Donation Generation

K-2

By focusing on the life sciences curriculum, LifeSouth’s I am the Donation Generation program is able to teach students the following:

  • The four components of blood (K-2)
  • The basic function of blood (K-2)
  • Becoming acquainted to blood donation and its purpose (K-2)

3-5

By focusing on the life sciences curriculum, LifeSouth’s I am the Donation Generation program is able to teach students the following:

  • The function of blood in our bodies (3-5)
  • How blood is replenished (3-5)
  • The function and tasks of organs and organ systems (3-5)
  • What happens when life sources don’t properly function (3-5)
  • Resources available to help others in need (3-5)

Middle School

By focusing on the life sciences curriculum, LifeSouth’s I am the Donation Generation program is able to teach students about the function of blood in our bodies, how it is replenished, the function and tasks of organs and organ systems, what happens if these life sources are not able to do their normal operation and resources available to help others in need all in alignment with what is being taught in the classroom regarding our bodies and how they work.

The benefits of this program in your classroom are the hands-on activities used to teach the kids about blood and the organs in the body. These activities supplement what is already being taught in the classroom and aid in the child’s knowledge and retention of this material.

High School

LifeSouth understands the value of the teacher’s face time with his or her students. This program was put together by a former teacher with the understanding of the need for a program that aides the teacher in the relay of the information being taught in the classroom. LifeSouth prides itself in the supplementation of what is being taught in the classroom by focusing on the science curriculum taught in Life Science and Health Science classrooms. LifeSouth’s I am the Donation Generation program teaches about the function of blood and organ systems; discusses the function of bone marrow and cord blood along with the issues surrounding stem cell therapy; and illnesses that can be cured through the 5 donation procedures. LifeSouth’s I am the Donation Generation education program also provides an ABO typing lab that teaches students about antigens and antibodies that determine our blood type.

The benefits of this program in your classroom are the hands-on activities used to teach the kids about blood and the organs in the body. These activities provide an opportunity for high school students to experience the material learned in the classroom in a new way and therefore giving the students additional opportunity to absorb the content.
