A Reminder That Blood Donors Are Needed Every Day

The January 1 attack in New Orleans was a somber reminder that the need for blood does not take a holiday. It is the donors from yesterday that are the heroes today. As a blood donor, you help make sure blood is available when tragedy strikes, and donating blood helps guarantee our hospitals have the blood supply needed to help patients.

Blood donors are needed now to maintain our community’s blood supply. The blood you donate with LifeSouth directly helps patients at local hospitals.

January is National Blood Donor Month, and LifeSouth asks that you help by spreading awareness of the importance of giving blood and encouraging first-time donors to give the gift of life in the new year. All blood donors in January receive a LifeSouth sweatshirt, and platelet and double red cell donors also receive a $40 e-gift card (while supplies last). All donors also receive a mini-physical, including blood pressure, temperature, iron level and cholesterol screening.

LifeSouth’s bloodmobiles will be out at many locations in your area. For additional information about donation or to find a blood drive near you, call toll-free 888-795-2707 or visit lifesouth.org. Appointments can also be made online.
