Mobile, Ala. – October 28, 2026 – LifeSouth Community Blood Centers, a non-profit community blood center with locations throughout Alabama, has been selected as the official blood provider for USA Health Providence Hospital.
LifeSouth is asking the community to donate blood to help all hospitals in the Mobile area, including USA Health Providence Hospital. All blood types and first-time blood donors are encouraged to donate. Blood donors are needed every day. Every two seconds a person needs blood, but only 3 percent of Americans donate blood, despite 65 percent being eligible. Blood donors are anonymous heroes helping patients suffering from traumas, cancers and chronic illnesses.
“We see this as a true community partnership, and we are honored to be of service to USA Health Providence Hospital and continue to support the Mobile community,” said LifeSouth District Director Marty Pittman. “As a community blood center our focus is local donors helping local patients.”
In November, blood donors will receive a special t-shirt, and if a donor gives a double red cell donation or a platelet donation, they will receive a $40 e-gift card as a thank you gift. In addition, donors receive refreshments and a mini-physical including cholesterol, A1c, iron level, temperature and blood pressure.
“Our partnership with LifeSouth helps ensure lifesaving blood is available when our patients need it most,” said Josh Snow, market CEO of USA Health Providence Hospital. “We encourage our community to give blood and make a difference in the lives of patients across our region.”
