Rare Blood, Lifesaving Impact – Donate O Negative Today!

In an emergency, it’s the blood already on the shelf that saves lives.

You’re the Universal Lifesaver!

O- donors are known as universal donors. Since any patient can receive O- blood, it is often used in emergency situations to treat traumas and is considered the safest choice for newborns with compromised immune systems. Since patients of all blood types can receive O- blood, your donation is absolutely crucial.

As an O- donor:

  • Nine percent of the population shares your blood type.
  • You can only receive red blood cells from other O- donors.
  • You can give red blood cells to patients with any blood type.
  • You can help the most by giving double red cells or whole blood.

Our community’s blood supply has reached critically low levels! Currently, hospitals in our area only have a one-day supply of type O blood on their shelves. Local patients rely on a steady supply of lifesaving blood from donors like you. Please consider stopping by a LifeSouth bloodmobile or donor center in the next few days to help nearby hospitals replenish their supply and treat patients in need. All donors will receive a long sleeve t-shirt. Donate platelets our double red cells and receive a $40 e-gift card (while supplies last). Walk-ins are always welcome!

Visit lifesouth.org or call toll-free 888-795-2707 to schedule your donation appointment today.

A Reminder That Blood Donors Are Needed Every Day

A Reminder That Blood Donors Are Needed Every Day

The January 1 attack in New Orleans was a somber reminder that the need for blood does not take a holiday. It is the donors from yesterday that are the heroes today. As a blood donor, you help make sure blood is available when tragedy strikes, and donating blood helps guarantee our hospitals have the blood supply needed to help patients. Blood donors are needed now to maintain our community’s blood supply. The blood you donate with LifeSouth directly helps patients at local hospitals.
